Dogs, Cats and Guinea Pigs Adopted at our Adoption Expo!

On Saturday, July 24th, the NEPA Animal Welfare Collaborative held it’s first Adoption Expo! The event took place at the Viewmont Mall, thanks to our sponsor, PREIT Viewmont.

We were joined by some wonderful animal welfare organizations who all came together to promote the adoptable animals in our region.

The organizations who joined us include:

• Women’s Resource Center
• NEPA Pet Fund and Rescue
• Luzerne County Animal Response Team
• Mystical Realms for Animals and Companions
• Adopt-a-Boxer
• Griffin Pond
• Luzerne County SPCA
• Animal Care Associates

Participating organizations were surveyed following the event, and they told us they were able to make connections with people looking to adopt, foster, volunteer and donate! Well over two dozen animals have or will be adopted as a result of this event, and we expect this number to rise after the organizations finish processing applications and placing animals!

           

Griffin Pond’s Sherry Crolly said “All four of our dogs at the event received numerous applications and have meet-and-greets already set up…We have several dogs that were not at the event, but the public saw them on our poster boards and applied for 10 dogs and 2 kittens.”

Shannon Ceccoli of the NEPA Pet Fund and Rescue said, “We had a lot of interest and our Guinea pigs got adopted. We got a lot of exposure and that was the goal.”

The NEPA Animal Welfare Collaborative will be holding a Rabies Vaccine and Microchip Clinic on August, 26 at Nay Aug Park in Scranton!
